• Ensure that Macy’s Merchandising Group (MMG) Backstage merchandise meets all MMG Quality Standards and maintains compliance with all Federal, State, and Industry requirements
• Provide training and enforcement for MMG quality, safety and performance standards for private label products
• Ensure that product testing is conducted as described in the MMG testing program

• Macy’s (MMG NY Backstage), Quality, Marketing, Design, & Technical Design Teams (all levels
• Macy’s Overseas Merchandisers (all levels)
• Macy’s Inc. Legal Team
• Vendors & 3rd Party Testing Labs

• Provide testing guidance to Backstage team, suppliers and overseas offices
• Oversee assigned area and ensure processes & procedures are being followed
• Determine additional testing & labeling requirements based on product review, product claims, test reports and documentation.
• Communicate findings to the product teams, overseas offices, suppliers, mills, etc.
• Communicate major issues, trends, findings to supervisor
• Create and adhere to Time and Action calendars
• Follow up on all pending testing to ensure completion prior to x-factory dates
• Collaborate with management to arrange annual/ semi-annual training sessions for suppliers, labs, product teams, etc
• Create and present training materials for new hires both within and outside the department
• Tailor the training and testing programs as needed to ensure vendors are fully compliant
• Work with labs to ensure all approved locations are properly trained on the MMG Backstage Testing Program.
• Resolve discrepancies and inconsistencies between service providers and communicate trends to management
• Research new regulations and standards that apply to MMG’s private label assortment
• Work with labs and management to create new protocols as needed
• Lead new supplier meetings to provide an overview of the MMG Backstage testing program, roles and responsibilities
• Attend product development meetings and line reviews to help identify potential quality issues and make recommendations as needed
• Develop and communicate corrective action plan for critical testing failures
• Attend technical training classes and seminars to enhance knowledge of assigned area
• Issue quarterly newsletters that promote understanding and awareness of function & importance of the department.
• Conduct in-store audits and communicate any concerns with appropriate departments.
• Support Customer Service Manager with customer inquiries as needed

Job Requirements
• Bachelor Degree or equivalent industry experience with Children’s & Toys product
• Experienced with off-price merchandise
• Extensive knowledge of children’s and toy categories – health & beauty products & home décor a plus
• Expert knowledge of test methods and testing requirements
• Knowledge of Federal and State regulations
• 3-5 years of supervisory experience
• Detail oriented with a keen sense of urgency
• Self-motivated, proactive and organized
• Strong oral and written skills
• Strong data interpretation skills
• Ability to work well independently and adapt in a dynamic environment
• Personable, team and service oriented – ability to build relationships with business and vendor partners
• Proficiency in PC operation, MS Office, Excel
