We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in tumor immunology and T cell biology for a Senior Scientist role with the Oncology Therapeutics Discovery Group in the Oncology R&D Unit. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to pursue their own immuno-oncology research project working in one or more of the following areas: T cell biology (including metabolism, co-stimulatory signaling, and differentiation with an emphasis on memory), immunosuppressive mechanisms in the tumor microenvironment, tumor immunogenicity, or tumor-immune-stroma interactions. The candidate will provide immuno-oncology expertise; contribute experimentally and scientifically to target identification, prioritization and validation, and have a desire to continue in a laboratory-focused role. The candidate will have a proven track record of scientific productivity as evidenced by first author publications in prominent journals and ability to participate in a matrixed and innovative research environment. The individual will participate in strategic discussions, collaborate across partner lines and coordinate program activities. Candidate should be able to translate basic research findings into novel therapeutic strategies that support clinical drug development.Focused work in tumor and immune cell target identification and validation leading to the development of innovative immunotherapeutics.Effectively collaborate with other members of the Oncology group and supporting partner lines.Independently design and rigorously execute experiments using standard cellular and molecular biology/immunology assays to investigate target biology and therapeutic mechanisms of action.Generate, analyze and interpret data. Demonstrate a high level of initiative in troubleshooting experiments and accurate data analysis. Conduct high quality, conclusive research that leads to publication in peer-reviewed journals. Objectively interpret data and provide conclusions regarding project results and direction.Actively participate in and present data at project team, departmental, governance and other meetings and journal clubs. Attend and present data at external meetings and conferences.Ability to stay on top of novel scientific developments and opportunities, and to identify and quickly enter relevant new fields to make significant contributions. Education and Experience:Ph.D. degree in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, or related field with postdoctoral or 0-3 years' industry experience plus a solid background in tumor immunology and/or T cell biology. Experience in T cell differentiation, memory, co-stimulatory signaling and/or metabolism is a plus.Strong research experience with a focus on basic cancer and immunology techniques is required, including mammalian cell culture, immunoblotting, FACS, ELISA, ELISPOT, cytokine and chemokine detection, molecular biology techniques and in vivo mouse tumor experience.Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and highly organized and driven in terms of goal setting and achieving.Strong publication record or equivalent achievements in industry.EEO & Employment Eligibility Pfizer is committed to equal opportunity in the terms and conditions of employment for all employees and job applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, gender identity or gender expression, national origin, disability or veteran status.
