“Honoring Our Fathers” is a debut art exhibit of Alukotron’s oil paintings and photography. Polish-born Alukotron (real name Alexander Lutomirski-Kolacz) is an emerging multidisciplinary artist residing in Jersey City, NJ who dedicates his first solo exhibition of art as homage to his deceased father, a Master of Fine Arts - Waclaw Kolacz (1925-2005) [pron. Vatslav Kolatch] - of which he says “Today, I am who I am because of my father”.

Alukotron’s teenage activism during the imposed by general Jaruzelski martial law in Poland, filled with dramatic events that nearly cost him his own life, as well as his mother’s vivid memories from the time of the WW2 who as a child lost her father during Warsaw Uprising, and who survived the “forgotten” Polish Holocaust - those were the factors that deeply impacted his inspiration and clearly shift shaped the current trend in his art.

“Having my art show debut at the Pride Connections Center with a theme to honor our fathers makes it twice as important – says the artist – considering how many members of the LGBT community grew up without fathers and may not know the significance of a supportive father figure in life. Also, I think that coming up with such theme for my Exhibit was a great idea since its official opening is just two days before the ‘Father’s Day’, a holiday that is so often belittled or forgotten.”

The Exhibit features several new and unseen paintings with a portrait of artist’s father as its centerfold. The exhibit will take viewers on a journey through artist’s reflections, heritage and pride.

“I could not do all this and be here today if it was not for my father but I must also give thanks to Marge Colavito of Hudson Artists of NJ, Darnell McGee, Kevon Simpson, Ulises Robles and Monica Holder for their special contribution to the process” – concluded the artist.

“Honoring Our Fathers” Art Exhibit opened to the public June 15 and it will last until July 13, 2012.
